I am seriously thinking of taking up this scheme.... The fact I get to keep a portion of my social welfare payment for 2 years sounds like a good deal to me. It will help me along the way. I have a small business idea I would love to implement.

    Anyone currently on the scheme?

    Thanks

Looking at the same thing. The Enterprise office is surprisingly short of answers. My query is what happens if my business fails? Am I then income less when the allowance ends.

Did some research on this and IIRC ...
You need to be approved - cannot just start any old thing, so business plan and everything that goes with it
If successful then forget the extra money if your earnings go beyond a threshold - how you justify paying a wage to yourself etc
If it fails then nothing lost and you go back to full benefits - not sure on the process i.e if you just need to apply for JSA again (pretty sure its the same process as having just lost your job), but having tried it has no detrimental affect on your claim

Give the Citizens Information a call - they would be most up to date with the rules and give advice for starting up
