Hi all. Currently trying to fill out a form 12 to declare rental income for 2016. However, when I go to submit it I'm getting the following message "We cannot process your request as you were registered for Income Tax during 2016". Anyone have any idea what this means & why I can't submit the form?

Sounds like you need to file a Form 11 rather than a form 12.

Resurrecting this thread if that's ok.

I'm trying to claim for Foreign earnings deductions (FED) for 2015/16 and I'm getting the same message as the OP. My form 11 is long since filled and filed and tax paid. I've also sent three messages through 'MY ENQUIRES' on ROS since last November and as yet haven't received a reply! If you ring the tax office no one answers. Funny how when you're late with something they've no problem getting in touch with you.

As you are registered for Income Tax Self Assessmentfor the years 2015/2016 you cant file a Form 12. You have to file an amended Form 11

Thanks for that. I think that means a visit to the tax office as I can’t edit the form 11 on ROS either.

Send a MyEnquiry stating you are unable to smend the Form 11 and request the amendment be made by Revenue on your behalf.

I sent two in November and one the other day. They’re not answering.

Backlogs at present are pretty big. Your MyEnquiry is in the system and will be processed. No one is monitoring online correspondence in real time

Yea, probably. I might try and get through to the local office and see if I can go in. It might be quicker.

No public counters really anymore. Even if you go in youll be redirected online with your query.

When I try to edit the form11 I get a prompt to contact the local office.

You may not be able to edit if a Revenue assessment was done on the initial Form 11.

Just send a MyEnquiry requesting the amendment be made as you are unable to do so online

Yea, that sounds right. I’ll try that. Thanks.
