There is an idea of a Daniel Day-Lewis, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me, only an entity, something illusory, and though I can hide my cold gaze and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable: I simply am not there. I’d imagine the film would be horrendously boring and dull. I personally think he’s a crap actor and don’t like him in any of his movies and can’t even fathom how a crap actor will try and portray himself in a movie about himself.

I think they should get Nicholas Cage to play him as he is the only actor crap enough to accurately portray Day Lewis.

John Ford directed John Wayne in lots of films starting with Stagecoach.

Many years later after seeing him in Red River he was supposed to have said "I never knew the big son of a bitch could act."
