Hall Carpet/wall color schemes?

Hi I'm decorating the hall and looking for ideas on colors for the walls and carpet The timberwork will be all white I want a carpet color that won't show up the dirt too much and a nice cheerful color scheme. Any ideas just fire away and thanks
