    Hi,

I have Chinese slate down under the kitchen area & am trying to find out what is a good sealer to put down on it.
I heard you can get one that will give it a continuous wet look but no idea where to buy it from.
Suppose I could try the likes of B&Q but i would think people in the business wouldn't recommend going there.

Any idea's on a quality sealer / lacquer & where to get it in Dublin??

    Thanks.

    Probably what you heard about:
    https://www.hgmaintenance.com/marble-stone-shine-finish.html
Most Builders suppliers or tile shops sell it.

Prior to laying down the slate, an impregnation protector should have been applied to prevent any staining from grout or adhesive. Once down the sealer coat should then be applied. A 1 litre bottle goes a long way

If yours have been down for a while they will need to be cleaned thoroughly before you seal them.

The HG protectors are the ones I used in my place. You should know that you need to re-apply them, I do mine every year. The sealer will also bring out all the wonderful colours in the slate.

    Thanks for the info.
Looks like I will need to give them a scrub too.
What would you recommend for this, good quality cleaning product, stiff brush & a few hours on my knees scrubbing??

I use a very light solution of 80/20 proprietary floor cleaner like Vax or Mr Muscle and a smallish, cheap, palm sized plastic nylon brush. I have the slate in the kitchen, hallways and bathroom so it's a mornings job for me.

When I do the annual re-seal I use a small domestic steamer as well.

They always come up a treat.

    Have fun.
