Dog partially ate rear seatbelt....cost?

My son left the rear seatbelt dangling out the door and my Alsatian partially ate it-roughly about a third of the way through. Just wondering if it needs replacing. It seems pretty sturdy.

It's a 131 Passat and my wife was quoted €300 to replace it with main dealer.

Just wondering would an independent guy do this and if so rough cost ?
Though I'm wondering if it needs replacing at all.....then again I'd hate to be wrong for the sake of €300!

Look on partfinder.ie for a used one.

You don’t pass an nct with a frayed belt never mind one that’s been chewed through.

If it's eaten through over a third of the width it will be an NCT issue.
    Try eBay for a replacement.

Same happened here. €50 in a car breaker's yard and local panel beater put it in in a few minutes.

Similar here. I think in total it cost me €70 to replace the chewed seat belt in total.

    Yes. It’s not complicated

I bought a replacement from a local breaker's yard, then my mechanic fitted it during the next service shortly afterwards. It was a very quick job.

Are you in full control of your eat op, today it’s a seat belt tomorrow it could be a child.

Eh... by that logic you can't trust anyone. Chewing gum today, serial killer tomorrow...

Bob Sweeney or Autobreak (BS can be expensive though) , put the details into partfinder.ie and it’ll show places that have cars like yours.

Out in the middle of nowhere? Think I got bits for the Civic there before, used to go there years ago before the motorway was built too. Maybe I'm thinking of somewhere else. Office is just inside the gates on the right
