Hi, bought a device that only connects via hdmi. Habe connected to all 4 hdmi but nothing shows. Tv recognises the correct port when i select "input" but all I get is "connecting" and then "no signal".

Anyone know how to fix this. Do i need to replace the chip or get someone to do etc.

Tv is old enough(LG 42LE5900). About 7 years i have now..

I do intend getting one but could be well into next year, so kinda like to habe this one workinf for now if possible.

    Thanks,
    J

Whats the device that you are trying to connect ?

To rule out the HDMI's are not blown.

    Try another hdmi device.

    Try another hdmi cable.

Disconnect TV from power and disconnect any hdmi devices. Leave for 10 mins try again.

The boards on TVs that supply power on HDMI do go (the solder contacts go) and there is a round about way of fixing them with a warm hair dryer on the board below the HDMI socket until it comes on, but you'd have to know what you are doing as there are some lethal consequences if you do something wrong.

Have tried with a laptop and diff cable that dwf used. Ive factory reset tv. Tried all ports. :/

Really don't want ro go messing myself. Quoted 120 to fix it. Ha not worth it, cud nearly buy a cheap TV for that

Think have to bite bullet and replace.

Have you tried any other devices in the other HDMIs?

Tried heating. Didn't work, nothing ever came on screen..

Hdmi to av adapter. Would that work for a tv Box, Would they not need hdmi for quality?

    Thanks

HDMI to AV Converter. There are plenty of cable out that wont work at all.

Yes it will be 576i at best. So you are undoing the quality of the source.

    Try something like this.

Thanks that would work albeit a loss of quality for sure.

That comes with a usb charging mechanism. So would have to get a usb plug or some other gadget to plug it into :/ Plus the old vga cable. Surprised I dont have any lying around somewhere.

New tv was on cards anyway so will look at that as well in meantime

I've trimmed a few posts from this thread for safety reasons.

Please do not offer advice/instructions on these forums which involves attempting to fix the internals of a tv while it is still plugged in.
