Why did it close ? Was there any political controversy about closing it (A la Lw 252 ) ? Why did it exist in the first place? I mean why was there an rte radio cork but not an rte radio Galway or Donegal ?

It's originates from 6CK - the radio station set up in Cork in 1927, a year after 2RN. It was primarily set up to relay 2RN programming but also provided local content.

DJ is Steve Bolger who was on Sunshine 106.8 (Dublin) up to a few years ago.

The text with the video incorrectly says Radio 2.
