Laptop docking station

I'm having some laptop issues, and am considering a docking station as a way of not having to keep plugging HD's in/out all the time.

I have two spare USB ports as the third is for mouse/keyboard/other.

The laptop is a zBook 15 G3 and the recommended docking station is: HP ZBook Dock with Thunderbolt™ 3 (150W) (P5Q58AA)
But I've read so many poor reviews for it on a variety of websites. At nearly 300 euro I'm reluctant to take a chance.

Anyone know of any other options?

The Anker product that got a mention here a few weeks back could be useful? Around £100 on Amazon. I've taken delivery of it but haven't opened the box yet as am waiting to invest in a new laptop in the coming weeks.
