Rent a car and explore the island.

Was there a few years ago. It's a surfers paradise if you're into that. Lots of warm windy beaches.
If you're in Corralejo, visit Lajares. Nice village nearby.
    Not much else struck me.

Day trip on the ferry to Lanzarote. ( not sure why one would do this other than to kill time )

Good for watersports like kitesurfing and surfing, depending on the time of year.

Quad biking through the volcanoes good also.

    Cycling and mountain biking

It's really just a sun & beach destination, not a huge amount to do which is why we love it, it's quite rustic in parts, a car is a must imo, avoid Orlando & Goldcar.

We found the food quality to be very good & good value too
The beaches are fantastic, without doubt among the best in Europe

With the exception of Caleta, full nudity is common enough on the beaches once outside the town's so if that bothers you, be careful where you wander, the nudists won't cover up just because you appear.
The beach in Caleta is man made AFAIK, it's just undergone a regeneration process which hasn't worked out very well so I'd avoid if looking for a nice beach

The Grand Playas just outside Corralejo are huge, same for those in the south like Sotovento, you can be 2 meters from other beach visitors or 500 meters if you choose.

As mentioned, surfing & wind sports are very popular, some stretches of beach can have dangerous currents.

It's very laid back not much in the way of nightclubs

if you're going there a nice place to stay is down in the older part of Corralejo near the port/marina.
    Caleta is a dump.
If you're not into active things like sports / getting out there and doing things then you'd better be into chilling.
There's not a lot of historical things to see. It's a beautiful place but it's barren (volcanic landscape).

Betancuria in the mountains is beautiful.
Ajuy is nice as well. Lovely black sands and it's a bit more wild than caleta de fusta.
South of the island is nice too.

And yes, caleta de fusta is a dump.
Horrible food that even when it's cheap (rarely) it still manages to be overpriced.
Only one decent place we are in there. The restaurant out in the island.

El Cotillo is worth a visit for lunch. Dramatic vista looking down to the beach from the raised perspective of the town.
