    Why.
It will be legally declared off the road ?
And I want to submit the tax disc for a refund for non use ?

The only way, is if you scrap the car.

Because that is not how the process works or the criteria for a motor tax refund.

So you didn't even pay the tax and want a refund? :D

You are too late now for November.

One option is to sell your own car now.
It will be an easier sell with a bit of tax on it.

It can't be declared off the road with valid tax. It can only be declared off the road in the month the tax runs out for the following month onwards.

    Nothing wrong with that.
But unfortunately in case of motortax it's impossible.

Scrapping the car refers to destruction of the vehicle.

    Incorrect

The tax needs to be canceled in order for the declaration to be made, the local motor tax office can do this for you.

I found this out when I discovered a car I purchased was taxed (missing disc) but wasn't in a position to drive said car for a few weeks

I must add while in my scenario the car was tax exempt, this applies to normal private vehicles too. The option is there for whatever reason the car needs to be declared off the road.

So yes, you can declare it off the road while taxed, you just won't get anything back

Why would you bother declaring off the road while taxed.

I'm sure they have their reasons. In my case the car was tax exempt so no skin off my back.

I do genuinely wonder if anyone has actually declared a car off the road after cancelling valid cc or co2 tax though!

Your joking, of course you cannot do that. Scrapping means as a whole the car will never see the light of day again... Just parts of it will be used on other cars down the road.

You'd sell a car because you can't get one months tax back?

That's about the size of it. The manual might make it attractive to someone who wants to go round and round, so maybe up to €200
