Heating

    Hi folks,
I have a few questions about my home heating...

I have ten rads in total without trv's and I'm wondering is it ok to fit just one or two for now or have they all to be done at once.

The system is oil fired and is about 20 years old.
Would the circulating pump at this stage be working up to scratch or should it be replaced after all these years.

There is a motorised valve there beside the pump but is broken and the wiring is disconnected. ( water and rads are heating).
Should a new one be fitted.

    Thanks

Not a plumber but was in similar place a while ago - old house with single zone for the heating. Replaced oil boiler and oil tank with gas tank and gas boiler. With that change bought a system called Heat Genius that uses electronic trvs on each rad. Had plumber add trvs and electrician wire the main controller. Add in the main controller and then as many or as few trvs as you want. Can add trvs as you go once you have the main parts.

System is them controlled via mobile app.

Replied to another thread and mentioned Heat Genius but not affiliated with them in any way other then I use their system.

If your oil fired boiler is 20 years old you should look at replacing it with a condensing boiler as a first step. Old boilers that are un-serviced will only have 50% efficency. Have a look at the boiler upgrade ROI here ecofriendly153.wordpress.com By upgrading you will decrease your carbon footprint and save a lot of money
