So I'm playing rugby year 3 and Ive been playing prop all me life since I was 6 but over the past 2 years I have grown to be (and I still have growing left in me) 6"3 15 st and I am extremely strong (I can clear out a ruck with 3 front rowers over the ball easily) and did I mention I can run 100m in 10 seconds so I asked my coach can I try flanker or even lock i am the tallest after all but get this he said no even though our current open side looks like he is a sub prop because he has no pace or strength yet he is flanker and our tallest lock is 5"11 so what position should I play in rugby because I don't know anymore

    You should sign pro somewhere

Or look into joining the Irish Olympic sprinting team with times like that

Yeah skip joining a team. Tip into elverys tomorrow and buy yourself an ireland jersey. Make your way to lansdowne road on Saturday and you'll be good to go.

10 flat would have got you to the final of the last Olympics. Have you thought to alert the Irish athletics coaches ? If you're doing that in boots and rugby gear then it's possible youre the fastest 100m runner ever on a track.

You're already the Irish record holder by nearly 2 tenths of a second.

    Erm... no.

I’m roughly 6’3 and I’m 11 stone soaking wet. I always thought I was 6’4 but apparently I’ve shrunk an inch at some point :(

You’d need to be Devin toner esque to be skinny at 15 stone! 15 stone is a beefy enough weight.

Do your nipples peek through your jersey?

I'm not sure if Thomond would give me dispensation for invoking John Hayes, but he was propping at 6' 3".

    Yeah because it's too small

As it should be, the sight of a good set of nipples will ensure the opposition are feared of ye.

(This thread may have strayed a bit off course, so you sound like a back row to me).

Forget the first part, it's an in joke. But you're not too tall for propping. Yet.

To be honest you could play pretty much anywhere, it's not so much about where you fit size wise but more where you're best suited skill wise.

If it's tackling/breakdown work then back row, if it's handling skills and great hair then backs.

As you've invoked Hayes, a lot of his earlier experience was in the back row.

I was under the impression he started out as a lock. It was only when he went to NZ that he converted to prop.

I'm pretty sure he mentioned being a flanker when starting off in his book.
