I finished a three year CE Scheme in Oct and adviced to apply for JSA .. which I now have, I also applied for fuel allowance as I had being receiving same the passed 2 years ( Oct to April )while on CE Scheme up until Oct 20th this year..
Today I received a letter from Social welfare saying I was not entitled to fuel allowance as I had not reached 390 days of unemployment..
Why did I receive fuel allowance while on CE and not while I am on JSA..
Oh I also found a part-time time job last week, 8 hours over 2 days..if that makes any difference to a claim..
    I'm just confused .

I've a similar situation....just finished a BTWEA, the 1st year you get your full jsa plus fuel allowance, 2nd year there was a cut of 25% but you got your fuel allowance also. I actually wanted to come of the scheme after the 1st year as we were told we could come off it any time if it wasn't working out, but when I went to the Intreo office they told me to stay on it....When the 2 years was up, I went back on JSA and also got that letter saying I wouldnt get the fuel allowance. I saw a CE job that I was really interested in and went in to Intreo and was told that I am not eligible to apply, I have to be unemployed for a year! I thought the unemployment figures were supposed to be really low now...I cant imagine that very many people would be out of work for a year?

Hopefully we both will find employment that allows us to forget about fuel allowance..

I don't even care about the allowance, I'd be just happy to get on the CE scheme! Good luck to you as well:)

It's actually quite simple really you would have already have been qualified to receive the fuel allowance before you got the CE scheme ,
You were then taken off benefits as part of the scheme ,
Now your finished after 3 years are now on a fresh JA claim which have need to be on a certain period before getting fuel allowance 15 months if I remember correctly ,

Had the same and it was a mistake
go to your office and take with you proof from before Ce and proof of fuel payments while on Ce and the letter it say you are not entitled to it and they will put it right
You came back into their system as new but you are not After Ce you still have the rights for fuel

Or if you are taking part in certain schemes - Back to Work Allowance, Back to Work Enterprise Allowance (BTWEA), Rural Social Scheme, Tús, JobBridge, Revenue Job Assist or Community Employment and are entitled to keep your secondary benefits. http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/extra_social_welfare_benefits/fuel_allowance.html

Fuel Allowance as a secondary benefit (as is a medical card) is not discontinued by sole reason of going on a CE Scheme. If a person's financial circumstances changed while on the CE Scheme (began to cohabit etc.,) the eligibility could be lost. If the OP's circumstances didn't change then the entitlement should still be in place when the CE Scheme finishes.

I enquired regarding the reason I was refused fuel allowance when my CE Scheme ended (I had received the allowance on the second and third year)
The fact is I was on JSB when entering a CE Scheme and I was not entitled to fuel allowance..
I don't know how I got the allowance..

    Just what I have said
Take the proof (payslips) with you and show them that you got it when you were on the CE scheme and go to the SW office and ask
I'm almost sure for 90% you will get it
I had the same problem and they told me after they had seen the payslips that it was their mistake
