Where in Ireland can I buy it today? Its a tempory solution to a cracked exhaust manifold for an old civic that I have.. Having trouble finding a replacement one in a breakers. I have been told this stuff would work as a tempory solution and I don't see why it wouldn't. Its a fiber glass material type stuff thats commonly used for decorative purposes. Ive the NCT coming up on the car and it won't pass emission's with the manifold blowing.

    Cheers

Can you not get it welded?

Just out of interest, what engine is it? Honda manifolds should be plentiful for all models.

IIRC the bandage won't pass the NCT. The old lad used to cut a biscuit tin and use jubilee clips with some exhaust paste, not sure if that will pass either but a better fix than the bandage.

There is something called gun gum (Autofactors / Halfords may have it or similar), I used it a few years ago as a temporary fix on an exhaust pipe. It was a bandage type wrap and also a putty type compound. I did have a light steel bracket over it all to keep it supported.

I tried this a few days ago and the manifold heat was too extreme for it. It crusted up and flaked off 2 days later. Ive a timeframe to find some sort of Micky mouse solution to this. The manifold heat wrap won't flake off and if it can wrap on tight enough and use steel cable ties to hold it in place I reckon this would do the job.

It very difficult to weld cast on.

    Its a d16y7, 1.6 16 valve. Not DOHC.

Can you make a wrap with light gauge metal, I saw a comment about using a piece of biscuit tin. Maybe use a small bit of high temperature putty and then tightly wrap it with light gauge metal to secure and support it all, then a steel hose clip both ends, might work as a temporary solution.

What I did in my case was applied the exhaust bandage and some gun gum and then a light gauge steel bracket over it to keep it all secured tightly, to stop the vibration from loosening and cracking it all. The fact the pipe in my case broke off on a straight section of pipe made the above repair easier.

Bought some high temp exhaust paste and filled in the crack the whole way around the split in the manifold. The problem here is that with movement from the cast iron manifold contracting as it gets hot and cold it will surely split again. I also cut some soft tin and I wrapped it around the crack with metal cable ties to hold the paste on so it won't fall out. Started car this morning and its completely not blowing at all now but surely it won't last long. NCT is today.... This bodge job is hidden under the manifold heat shield so you can't really see it from the top but underneath it might be spotted though. Shiney piece of tin on the manifold is obviously a patch if they spot it.

Let's pray.... Ive seen sheds pass the NCT in the past, my civic is NOT a shed though, only issue is the manifold. The car has had alot of work done on it the past two years.
Whole new front and back exhaust, suspension bushings, CV joints, ignition switch, starter motor, all new tyres, headlights polished to remove the UV yellow crap that happens on plastic headlights. I don't even drive the car much since its a second run about I have for sentimental reasons. Its a coupe and I really like it.

    Did it pass?
