With only average service from Vodafone and another price increase I decided to move to Pure Telecom. Based in an estate in Kilkenny City.
I got a call today confirming my accounts etc. And after I asked when I'd get the router as she had mentioned that I had now agreed to the contract. She said she can send it in 12 days after the trial period ended. I said what about me actually having my trial period...
The response was that they only send it out AFTER the EU requirement of a 14 day trial period because they have to sign a deal as well and it's to risky otherwise.... I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
The excuse was "you get the same service anyway so it's no different if it's working now anyway you will be fine". Now I may be wrong but I'm with Vodafone and they don't use Eir networks? And the reason to change was to get increased speed to begin with.

Has anyone else experienced this? I've given it some time to digest and I've just lost my trust in them and will probably cancel 'during my trial period's tomorrow.

The line is the line. It won't be any better with Pure.

Its not the EU regs but the Irish they're messing with. 14 days under Irish distance Selling.

Really though its BS as the terminology is something to the tune of "14 days from the delivery of goods/services". As the service isnt in use during the period you can still tell them to jog on from 14 days after delivery.

If Pure are in such a bad state they cant risk the install fees paid to OE then I'd go elsewhere. That kinda behaviour is just silly.

I just rang to confirm my thoughts and see if perhaps I just talked to the wrong person yesterday.
100% the strategy is to confirm new contract (over phone) then wait 14 days 'trial period' before sending out device and connecting customer to Pure. The new lady on the phone is under the impression that after that 14 days you are committed to the 18 month contract and there is no get out.
I asked if she thought it was right to deny people their 'trial period' and just got the response that it's 'what they do'. I work from home some days and even though the service 'should' be the same I just can't take that chance. I will likely stay with Vodafone and perhaps just upgrade my router.

If it's DSL, then Vodafone gets the line of OpenEIR, just like most other providers. Very few that still do LLU. So the line and the quality on the last mile is the same. Support and their internet supply is where they differ ... well .. and price.
