LNB Problem Symptoms???

    Hi,

since the storms I am having issues with the satellite side of my setup. As it isnt used too much by the kids who use streaming and IPTV, it hasnt been a priority but I would like to get it fixed.

So I have an octo lnb, (10 years old) which has two Humax Foxsats using four of the feeds and a Wetek Play using another two, with two spare.

So the problem is the Humax upstairs is perfect, no issues (so it is not a dish alignment issue). But the other Humax and Wetek which are downstairs have been losing access to channels like BBC 1 HD, ITV and POP etc. I think the channels are on the V polarity.

Sometimes the channels work, sometimes they dont. Would this be a sign that the lnb needs changing, along with an adapter for the old dish?

Is it worth spending big money on a decent lnb or would a cheaper one do?

    Thanks

Fault could be with one or more of the LNB outputs and/or cabling/connection to LNB.

Initially check the cable connections and while there check the physical condition of the LNB, feedhorn cover etc. A crack on the cover could allow moisture into the workings of the unit which can cause problems like you're having.

I assume you have an old Mk3 Sky dish as you mention an adapter, the Octo for this dish is about €30 from here, so not too expensive.
