VRT / Change of ownership

Hi I recently moved home from UK and received a VRT exemption on the car due to Transfer Of Residence. It states that you cannot sell or dispose of motor for 12 months or full VRT must be paid.

I would like to transfer ownership of the car to my wife's name, am I likely to succeed or will they look for a full payment ?

    Cheers.

Your wife can legitimately insure it in her name even if it's registered to you as far as I know,

Problem is I bought a van for work and the insurance company want a sold car declaration form. Haven't a clue what to do as I can't really transfer ownership of the van ??

Get your wife to insure the van with you as a named driver? Seems odd they don't want you owning a car?

I've considered this but I'm struggling to get her as policy holder on the car never mind a van.

If I complete the declaration and send it off what are chances of being found out ?

If something happens, then you can be sure they'll try and get out of paying any way possible!

Is it that you want to use the no claims bonus twice or something

Well I'm not really bothered I can cancel policy on the car and get her insured on its4her or whatever it is with me as named driver but they seem to want me only owning one car/motor.

Go to a broker/another insurance company.

Did your wife transfer back with you? If yes, approach the same Revenue office you obtained the TOR exemption from and ask them for a letter confirming the the car can be transferred into your wife's name.
