Hi I am looking to buy my husband a waterproof golf bag for Christmas.
I want a full set size bag if that makes any sense. I don't know where to start looking. I've seen one on American Golf for €249 but that's a small bit out of my budget. Can anybody suggest where to get a decent one.

Have you checked online; tends to be where the best value is.Is it a cart bag or carry bag.
Onlinegolf.co.uk has some decent ones and deliver to Ireland for £5. Loads of other stores online. Golfsupport & Directgolf are others.

Another option is rather than buy a new bag you could pick up a cover. I have one like this

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Golf-Rain-Cover-Fits-Trolley/dp/B00537ZK8M

It costs less than €20 and is brilliant.

It's a trolley bag I'm looking for. I'll check that website out tomorrow. Thanks

Lidl have a waterproof trolley bag in their warehouse specials this week or next week. I think it's €79 which is very good value.

OP if your hubby is any kind of a half seasoned golfer please please please please please please please please please please please please please please don't buy him any golf gear whatsoever from Lidl.

Lidl is only good for hackers who play nop more than a couple of times a year and even at that, I still wouldn't be recomending it for golf gear

The red/black titleist stadry bag looks the part and should be less than €200.

Get him a nice bag, and also get him a rain cover for bad weather. It's a win-win. The rain cover will be so light so won't even notice it in the bag when the weather is nice.

Get him a voucher for Halpenny or McGuirks for whatever your budget is, They both have regular sales with 15 to 20% off and Im sure he would get a good waterproof bag in the sales without having to add much, if anything.

bit more pricey as rain covers go but is the easiest to use. My bag is awful in the rain and this was a revelation when I got it

Seve, Normally I'd agree with you but the bag is very similar to the Big Max iAqua bag I paid €300 for and and doesn't have Lidl or Crivit anywhere on it.

I used to work with your other half, so I'll get in touch with her to tell her it would make the ideal Xmas present for you! You might need it if you can't get your hands on free Nike gear anymore.

I was looking at a waterproof bag previously, and was chatting to one of the guys in the shop (think it was Halpenny)

What he was saying was, yes, the waterproof ones are more expensive, but that the Vinyl/leather bags basically aren't fully waterproof, but the nature of the material gives close to as much waterproof-ness for less cost. So I just went with that. I've been out playing in fairly heavy rain & haven't had any real problems with it to date

Had one of these and while mostly what you say is true water is able to get into the pockets through the zips.
I have recently bought the Titleist Stadry Cart bag and cannot fault it. Totally waterproof and would recommend to anyone.

That's a fair point re the zips alright

The zips are the real difference. They are the weakness in the waterproof but are well worth the hassle.
Nothing worse than pulling a jumper out of a bag to find it damp from the previous week.
Don't think I would ever go back to a regular bag after having the water proof bag.
