Type of Granny cable

    Hi guys,

I'm buying a granny cable from aliexpress and need to specify what the current should be in amps, either 10A, 16A or 32A. Is there a way I can check what the output of my sockets is? The house was built in the 90s. I intend to get an external charge point installed soon so this is more of a stop gap measure.

    Thanks,

    Griff

Your normal household sockets in Ireland are rated at 13A max. Generally, the granny cables supplied with cars here are 10A.

I'd be a bit concerned about buying some spurious cables from China - is it really worth the risk? Sure the OEM cables are ridiculously expensive, but there are third-party sellers within the EU who will at least stand by their product and give you some sort of warranty.
