    Hi,

Looking at getting rid of sky on two tv's and replace it with x2 freesat humax HDR 1tb recorders, 2 saorview boxs and x2 android boxs supplied by one aeriel and one quad lnb satellite dish.

Both out TV's do not have saorview built in.

To have independant operation for saorview and freesat on both tv's do i need all of the above ?

    Is there anything i've forgotten?

Anyway i can avoid ending up with 4 remote controls for each set up? 5 if you include the dvd player surround sound system.

I havent bought anything yet so i'm open to all suggestions , options, configurations.

    Thanks.

Have you much of a need for an android box?
Would a chromecast suffice? The benefit is you can take the chromecast with you and use it on holidays in Ireland. No remote with the chromecast either.

Hold off on buying a saorview box as the new saorview connect combi box (7 day rollback viewing) is due out shortly. That will also allow you to view satellite channels (though only now next on epg and no series link for satellite).

It would mean 1 remote controlling everything.

Do you know if the Saorview connect combi box will that be freesat or free to air channels? Will it have recordable feature and if yes what memory capacity? What company are manufacturing it? Are they're any freesat boxs that have series link? Sorry for all the questions there are so many things to consider i'm trying tp get as much ibfo as possible.

The satellite channels will be free to air not freesat.
No recording feature until a software update in mid 2018.
Recording will need an external hard drive.

Instead of "x2 freesat humax HDR 1tb recorders, 2 saorview boxs" you could use Enigma2 receivers which are capable of freeview and saorview (and also have 7 day EPG, series link, etc)

Id be interested in this solution, what would the cost of this set up be roughly? I have virgin media currently but they are upping the price again so im getting rid of them

Can't you just get a box that does the whole lot? Android, Satellite, terrestrial? Doesnt the ariva 4k do all?

Zgeema h2s will do sat tv and has a built in addon called iptv player that will give you apps for movies.

The problem here is that most people will want to be able to view a satellite channel while recording another. And the same for Saorview.

You will thus then need a box with 2 satellite tuners and 2 cable inputs from the dish.

If you want the same setup in another room you will need 4 cables coming in from the satellite dish.

You will have another saorview cable (or 2 if a 2nd room is needed) coming in from the uhf aerial. So potentially 6 cables.

Using linux based boxes (Enigma) require a lot of work to setup but offer the full 7 day epg for saorview and satellite free to air. I think you may also need less cables as you can stream from the main box to the 2nd room, a bit like sky q.

Pluses and minuses for a lot of them.
I guess it depends on what your needs are.

Do enigma boxes come installed with all the channels or do you have to set that up yourself? Ideally id want the simplest solution to replace virgin.

There is a bit of tinkering required with a new Enigma2 receiver. But it's not that hard is you have some technical ability and a couple of hours to spare.
You will thus then need a box with 2 satellite tuners and 2 cable inputs from the dish.
Not quite true. You will need 1 cable from your terrestrial aerial to receive the saorview channels (and then you the loop through from one tuner to the other).
If you buy a new receiver with FCB (and have a compatible LNB) then you will 1 cable from your sat dish to your receiver

Thanks, what would you recommend other than the enigma box? Id prefer a plug and play solution with saorview/freesat with an epg and series link. Id need two boxes but the 2nd one wouldn't need a hardrive etc

    Not aware of FCB.
I always thought you needed two input cables if you wanted to view 1 while recording another.

Think they meant FBC (full band capture).
If you search boards for "FBC" there's a couple of threads on it. Sky Q uses FBC.
