:D LOL.. it has actually happened before in the USA in 2012

I know that in France you can be breathalyzed if you are in control of any vehicle, including riding a bicycle or a horse, so it could be the same anywhere. There were some forums on Board.ie about drink-cycling if I'm not mistaken.

I would trust my horse to get me back safely, but probably not on a road! :D

I suppose a horse is better than a car if you're drunk... but going around traffic is super dangerous. I ride a cob who's entirely bombproof in traffic (spent first few years in inner city Dublin) but that means he'd have no problem walking in front of a car if let do his own thing.

At the same time, credit where credit is due... maybe it's because I don't drink but the one or two times I've been drunk, even lying in bed was a challenge without falling out, nevermind riding a horse!

In Ireland , it's illegal too, drunk in control of an animal, I think. Reminds me of a story in our Irish book for the Inter Cert. called Liam na Gúise. (Yes, I'm that old)
