Hi all. I am a mature LLB student. I already hold a Bachelor (Ordinary) in a business subject, HETAC Level 7. Does anyone have any idea if this qualification is acceptable for an exemption for the FE1 prelim exam. I was going to contact the Law Society but said I'd check here first in case any of you would have an idea. I'm interested in knowing as I was thinking of having a go at some of the FE1 while I'm still doing the subjects in college. Apologies if this is a stupid questions but I'm skeptical as to what kind of weight my Level 7 degree holds. Thanks.

What subjects did you study in your Bachelor Degree? You get the exemptions by studying the subjects examined in the Fe1s, ie Company Law, Contract, etc. As far as I know unless you have covered any of those subjects in your degree then you won't get an exemption.

Exemptions have nothing to do with the subjects examined in the FE1s.

You get an exemption from the prelim exam if you have a degree issued by the HETAC, in any discipline. However, I'm not sure if a level 7 is counted - it may need to be a level 8.

Your best bet is to contact the Law Society directly to ask them.

Redo91, I'm not looking for an exemption from the FE1's, but the prelim exam.
The prelim exams is for non graduates which covers English, Irish Govt and Politics and General Knowledge.

Sunshine and showers, thank you. Yes I'll make contact with the Law Society, I just thought I might find out here first.

Ya I was aware it was the prelims you wanted the exemption for.

In any event my advice was wrong. I hope I didn't cause any confusion.
