USB connection on BMW for spotify

Looking for advice on how to successfully connect my samsung s7 to the car to play spotify. We have a 151 1 series that wont play my spotify through the usb connection. My previous iphone worked perfectly but when I connect my samsung, spotify won't work, it just plays some random song in the phone's memory. I tried it in two other BMWs, a 161 and a 172 and get same issue so it is most likely my phone. Any tips?

I know in my mothers 142 BMW, one needs the special usb and aux wire connection but the 15 models got a software upgrade which allows just the USB connection to play music so this probably isn't the solution either.

Spotify over USB is only supported in iOS devices on NBT iDrive units.

To get Spotify support on Android devices you need NBT Evo ID6 (to get Spotify playlist, radio support).
The 172 BMW should have NBT EVO2 unit.

172 was registered at the start of July but had been floating around the BMW dealers for a while so in reality is a 171. That clears that up, will have to stick to bluetooth so. Talk about 1st world problems!

Spotify is not allowed to store via USB resulted from Spotify Music is DRM-protected. Hence, you need a tool for helping you with removing the DRM and transferring the DRM-free Spotify Music to USB drive via some tool, like TuneFab Spotify Music Converter. You can have a try!

At least try the AUX input, as wired is so much better than bluetooth.

Also, check if there was an update for your car?

Does your car have connected drive, spotify is one of the connected apps and you use the idrive to control your phone when its plugged in via USB.
