As a middle aged male (44) with probably a few middle aged attitudes I'm actually afraid to post on some especially AH threads.

The hatred and vitriol. This metoo. I'm glad I have no facebook or twitter. Its really getting out of hand.

Some guy saying he had PTSD for 6 months from getting grabbed by the crotch...

Christ almighty. Just as well you stayed away from Afganistan. You're denegrating real PTSD.

Raising a bunch of idiot, entitled ****ing toolbags.

I get you Heckler. You are not alone.
This is only my two cents.. So maybe I am right, Maybe I am wrong.

But see all this BS posted on social media it falls under two things. 1, young people being naive and have yet to wise up to the world. Students and what not. 2, Lies by people. A lot of people use social media so that becomes their 'front'. Agreeing with things online they don't actually agree with in reality.

I’m over 50 and everything is absolutely bonkers now as far as I’m concerned.
Safe spaces and trigger warnings and PC insanity and the breakdown in our social structure...
The gender fluidity thing is insane.
All the young people are so unhappy now and we were never as well looked after and loved as we are now....
Too high expectations leading to crashing disappointment when things don’t work out...
No rules no responsibility, all about rights and entitlements and me me me me me

In fairness, as children, people your age had to work in coal mines and were able to sign up to blast other children with guns in muddy trenches which is fairly bonkers itself.

You sound like you're well able for a bit of argy bargy yourself, in fairness.

A good rule of thumb is that if you've ever used the word 'snowflake', and I don't know whether you have, it doesn't reflect well on yourself to act like one.

Ironically that's the type of crap you see people post on social media :pac:
Hey, I get where you are coming from but how does someone change the world when they flip burgers in mcdonalds (ie, just another person)

But let's just say we do take what you said on board. I become a better person, I become more tolerant etc etc. Still have to lock my doors at night. Life is still a rat race and dog eat dog.

The great thing about the Internet: It gives everyone a voice.
The bad thing about the Internet: It gives everyone a voice.

It terrifies me when someone puts a space between the last word of a sentence and its ending punctuation. What the hell is going on within that ungodly abyss

I thought snowflake was actually quite fitting when it was first being used (against the 70+ genders brigade), but it lost all meaning when it was used against anything left-leaning.

It really isn't. The Internet is not representative of real life because it allows those with extreme view's seem like they have more of a consensus than they actually do, there is a higher concentration of idiots and they are shouting louder than the moderates who probably don't feel the need to say anything at all because it's irrelevant and pointless. 500 likes might seem like an endorsement but they wouldn't translate to 500 votes in real life and even if they did it probably still wouldn't get you a seat on your local council. So you have lots of people with a sense of importance shouting loud and get pissed off when people disagree with them.

If people spouted the ****e you outlined in real life you would probably walk away, you can do the same online.

You're dead right BA. It really is a dog eat dog rat race.
In reality isn't this just our generation hitting the, 'in my young day' stage of life? Our parents generation thought we were soft wasters who had no idea what life was really like, their parents generation thought the same. It probably goes back to when Ug cooked the first snail and Wug was horrified. Give today's youngsters 20-30 years and they'll be saying the same about the next generation.
