    Hi all,

I've recently moved to Enniscrone Sligo and have just been told by Sky that they wouldn't install broadband for me because my line speed is only 1mbps; has anyone else had this problem and is there a fix?

    Thanks
    Amanda

I got Vodafone to supply service. They promise you the earth and then get eir to deliver it. :D

You could be too far away from your local exchange though. Then you're screwed until fibre comes your way.

How far is your local phone exchange, since it sounds like fibre to the cabinet isn't available?

He did say I was too far from the exchange and there is nothing that can be done.

Is 1mbps too slow to get a connection?

Surely in this day and age this shouldn't be happening! 😩

    Thanks for the replies. 😊

Find your house on this map (or click the link to enter your phone number and Eircode)

    http://fibrerollout.ie/rollout-map/

Some of the roads out of Enniscrone are covered with the green line and if you are on one of them, you are in luck, and will get fibre some time next year. If you aren't, then you have a longer wait for the NBP.

For what it's worth, I'm on 1mbit broadband currently. I'm surprised they won't supply that to you as i's better than nothing.

People actually in Enniscrone get 8Mb.

No solutions for a slow line
Disconnect it and try local wireless providers alike Westnet, Fastcom, Imagine, Three, Vodafone or eir mobile
If you need a landline get VOIP much cheaper.

That's precisely what I thought, they basically told me I can't have it and anyone who tells me I can is lying! ggrrrr

No, I'm not near the red X's; is that good or bad?
