Ferguson Ariva 210 Combo not working

My Ferguson Ariva 210 Combo has stopped working. It powers on but doesn't get as far as the Ariva icon showing on the TV.

Display on box just says 'on' but is frozen. Remote does nothing to change display.

Is there any way to reset using just the buttons on box as I can't get into menu?

Maybe it's just dead? It's 5 years old so owes me nothing really but if I could resurrect it will save me buying another.

    Any ideas? Thanks.

if you were in any way techie you may be able to connect to a pc with a serial cable and flash new firmware to it
Had to do this on a friends box but it was not just frozen it had the dreaded ASH on the display possibly tried to upload the wrong channel list

But if its doing nothing you have nothing to loose

Have a look at the attached guide taken from World of Satellite

Sound. Thanks. I'll have to get one of those cables and try it out.

    Dont throw it out.

Near impossible to kill a Ferguson because of the way the way the eerom is set up and the on board recovery r232 module.

Its quite likely that you have bought the wrong recovery cable.

You need a null modem cable. Lots of people buy serial r232 which are not the same.

    Was the flashing successful ?

I'll throw up the procedure that has worked for me and countless other here.

I used a rs232 serial null modem cable F/F and followed instructions in previous post and it worked perfect as per the instructions. Just didn't make a difference

There is a frozen icon on your TV screen ?

Or there is nothing on your screen.

The Flash did go to 100% and you let the box reboot itself ?

    This is the firmware

    This is the upgrade tool

Extract both to a new folder on your desktop and try it again.

Do not turn the box on until you click next in the software.

The cable should be a DB9 F/F Null Modem cable. Nothing to do with "serial", they are wired differently. Serial will not communicate 2 ways.
