Going into voluntary liquidation and selling site - we always bought our vans there !
isn't it owned by the people who run LEASEPLAN ? when I say run - they sold fleet management to leaseplan ?
remember thye lovely exotic cars Kenilworth used to have in their showrooms amongst the opels ?

I used to see a number of different Ferrari's parked outside over the years - a 612, a couple of 456's, a Mondial Cabriolet as well as a Maserati Quattroporte. I assumed it was the owner of the garage - anyone know?

How many Opel's do you see on the road?

The owner of Kennilworth and the Boss in LeasePlan are/were married. She is related to the Williams of Annesley Williams and he had the Ferrari's/Maserati's.

The Fleet Management that eventually became LeasePlan in Ireland started from Kennilworth Motors, sometime in the 80's I think.

Very surprised to hear they are closing. While Opel's sales aren't great I would have thought the sheer volume that LeasePlan push through Kennilworth would keep them going, but that land is probably worth a shed load at the moment, and the big chief there must be getting towards retirement age and has better things to do with his time I suppose.

I got my Insignia through them via LeasePlan as it happens. Didn't realize they were linked in, no wonder Leaseplan push Insignias hard.

They used be in the top 3. They're gone off many people's radars. Wonder how the new small SUV range will do?

This. Having a garage in the middle of the most expensive real estate in the country probably makes little sense these days. Most garages have flown to out of town sites and retail parks too.

Got a letter in the post today about this as I bought my previous two cars from them. I have a 3 year service plan on the current motor so I hope I can get it transferred to another dealer. But yes I read somewhere today that the land is worth a packet and this seems to be the reason for liquidating the business.

Sad to see them go, Boland's Opel in Clondalkin seem to be one of the last original Opel dealers standing in Dublin

And Bolands are only a service dealer; and a good service dealer at that; which is bizarre as their showroom is full of Opel heritage

Opel did some funny things with their dealer network since the crash. Some stalwarts of the brand either closed or dropped the brand completely.
Lewis Portlaoise, Youngs Kilkenny, FM in carlow, all either gone or service only dealer. That's just a few in my neck of the woods.

If your service plan is from Opel then you should have no problem using any approved Opel dealer. If the plan was issued by Kenilworth and is specific to them then you may need to get it transfer/refunded. The latter would be unusual if you bought the car new.
