Could anyone help here, need a reliable quality service, current service is very poor. I know Imagine are operating from this mast and quality appears good, any others?

    Anyone?

Maghera is primarily a TV and Radio transmitting mast. If you are in a NGB area You should go for Imagine if Hi Speed broadband from a fixed line wouldn't be available to you until 3 to 5 years time.

I know the telephone cable has been upgraded in the last few months but contacted eir and they knew nothing about the upgrade so not sure if high-speed is on the way or not. I don't have a landline anymore.

On Maghera, you'll have Airwire, Imagine and Lightnet, that I know of.

Airwire is not on the RTE mast, but on a different location on the north side, so only covers Derrybrien to just south of Gort and everything in between if course.

Thanks for that, rules out Airwire so, and Imagine is too expensive, Lightnet has very mixed reviews.

And sometimes you don't get what you pay for. In fact, a lot of the time you don't get what you pay for.

I'd recommend lightnet if they are running with their cambium equipment.

Usually get 20mb down and 15mb up, here in North Clare.

Will contact them to check, thanks

They offer a check for 35 yoyos ,
I availed of this before going with them. Turned out I'm getting better than they expected. Great value compared to 5mb Eir.

Another lightnet recommendation here. Same area.

I presume similar speed would be achievable in East Clare area. Does speed drop much at peak times?

Slowest I've seen it was 20mb, it's 35 at off peak. Don't know what it's like in East Clare, lightnet was the only available option in this place.

This looks like the best option, thanks for the update.

How do you find their service in general, I am using Vodafone mobile at present while contemplating which permanent provider to get, my options are Lightnet or imagine, imagine is about 60 per month so that rules them out for me,

    True
eircom was charging me 65 Euro for 1.7mbps, now I am paying 2 ISPs to get any usable connection.
