Painting a PVC front door

    Does anyone know the process for painting a PVC door.

    I changed my dark brown PVC windows to ivory using a company called Windows Makeover about 3 years ago. They have a website, if you Google, but it doesn't seem to have been updated for quite a while. Might be worth contacting them. They did an excellent job and the windows still look fantastic.

    I painted internal PVC windows with gloss paint about 10 years ago and they are still fine! To do this I used a product called ESP which you just apply to the PVC with a cloth, allow to dry and then just paint as normal. Not sure this would be robust enough for an outside door though.

    Our front door is a horrid white PVC jobby that puts me in bad humour when I pull up to it. It’s perfectky functional though, and I’ve priced a new one at €3k, so I think it’ll be there for a while yet!
    I have been looking at Frenchic paint- they have an AlFresco range, and their Facebook paint has lots of photos of pvc front doors painted that look great. Apparently it’s easy- wash it down, and paint it. Voila! We need to get the outside of our house painted first though, so I’d say painting the door will be a job for the spring time!

    I wanted a kitchen unit drawers painted a different colour - it was some sort of a laquered finish, not varnish and not plastic wrap. The painter painted it with gloss and the paint pretty much fell off the following day. I got some sort of specialised primer - just told them in the paint shop what I wanted to do - and painted it on, then the gloss, and its still perfect a couple of years later. Ask in a specialised paint store, they should be able to advise you.
