Choice between two laptops

    Hi there,

I'm looking at the following two laptops, both similar in price.
Usage would be mostly college work with a lump of statistical data work, word processing etc. and general browsing/tv watching occasionally.

Both are refurbs, I'm aware that an SSD would be an advantage so one of these has that. In terms of mobility, both are relatively similar, 14" so that kind of a push.

Haven't bought a new laptop in a good while so I'm a bit out of the loop!

Also, any alternatives in the similar price range are welcome (up to ~450 euros)

    option 1

    option 2

    Thanks in advance!

Both laptops are already 5 years old, I would not consider these worthwhile at this point. I would expect that both have poor third party replacement batteries installed which most likely give poor battery life.

There is no idea what SSD is in that Lenovo either, you would have to assume that it is a lower price/quality SSD. It could just mean that it's more likely to fail. But perhaps that's just the pessimist in me.

Both machines would have been capable in their day, but I think the price is rich for what they are now. If you can save more money you would be better off buying something newer. Especially if you need something to last you 4 years through college.
