The are different generations of the A3 so chances are slim. Even within the same generation of car the gearbox can vary from year to year. Every gearbox has a 3 letter CODE you ned to find out what yours is before you start your search. If you ring an Audi parts department with your reg they should be able to help you.

If you have the service book, theres a label inside the front cover of it. If not, lift the cover of the boot floor and you should find a label like the one at this link. This gives you nearly all the build info and options on your car (there's plenty of lists out there how to decipher these codes). On the case of that picture in the link, FGE is the transmission code for that vehicle. Once you have that 3 letter code on your's, you can go searching for another gearbag with that same code.

    HTH.
