It might be an idea to avoid the shopping centre for a while this evening, security incident, place has been evacuated, armed Gardaí are in attendance.

There's a young lad "missing" with suggestions earlier today that he might be armed. I reckon it's him or suspicions he's there.

Is this the lad with the rifle I thought he was over the west of the country

The public have been asked for help to find a man who has been missing since yesterday.

19-year-old Jack Dinan was last seen on Considine Road Ennis at 10am on Tuesday 31 October

He is 1.8m (6ft) tall, of slim build with black hair. He also has a brace on his upper teeth.

He is believed to be wearing a grey hooded top and a grey camouflaged jacket, and may also be carrying a green rucksack.

His family are anxious that he make contact and gardaí say he may appear agitated or confused.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Ennis Garda Station on 065-6848100 or the emergency numbers 999 or 112.

Media around the world starting to report the incident. Not a thing from RTE an hour later. Useless isn't even close to it.

A few reports say it's linked to the armed kid gone missing from Ennis.

Gardaí appear to be allowing traffic out of the centre but not in (naturally enough) - just in case anyone was thinking of picking up a friend or family member

For anyone ever complaining about Gardai not being prepared in case of a serious terrorist incident, the armed response unit were on the scene in minutes.

It was a young man, possibly teenager with a shotgun or rifle. No shots fired afaik and he was arrested.

Looks like the garda responded to a report of a young man being seen in the SC with a rifle.
Obviously there was no sign of him and that it was a hoax or a mistake.
Either way they had to respond. Thankfully nobody was injured or killed.

There were reports that there was a lad that matched the description of the missing teen in the centre, the person who phoned the garda did not say he was armed but as the garda had been informed he may have been armed they took precautions.

Not a hoax, just a member of the public informing the garda they believed someone who matched the description of a missing person was there.

That young lad's body has just been found in Ennis.

Seems he didn't venture too far from home.

    Condolences to his family.

    RIP
