Pay Rise & Terms of Contract

    Hi,

Just curious, my contract states that my wage increases are in line with the national wage agreement (contract over 13 years old) We took pay reductions in the recession and have been getting it back in small increments over the last couple of years.

As there is no national wage agreement in place currently, where do you think I stand with regards to wage increase outside getting back our reductions? Is it a case of asking for an increase, giving my reasons etc and hope for the best? Or do I have to wait until a new agreement is put in place (what if this never happens again?)

    Thanks in advance for opinions...

I wouldn't. But, I'd also put together reasons as to why I'm due a pay rise. If it's simply I'm in the job X amount of time, it's a relatively poor position to request a pay rise, unless you link to inflation. That's not likely to be very high due to low inflation.
