crow pecking wing mirrors of my car

Well this morning I was laying in bed and the window was opened and I heard a pecking noise, so I looked out the window and there was a crow going mad pecking the mirror part of my wing mirror. This isn't the first time I've seen them do it and it's really starting to annoy me as they leave a mess in and around the door. They don't seem to go near my girlfriend's car for whatever reason? The question is what is the attraction to the wing mirrors of my car? It's a black car so I'm wondering would they be attracted because of the colour of the car?

Could be insects (spiders) in the mirror casing or they see their reflection. Turn the mirrors in.

No definitely not, I only washed the car 2 days ago.. I'm wondering is it something to do with the reflection it sees of itself, but I don't know why it wouldn't do the same to my girlfriend's car?

I'm afraid it just is. The size of mirror, angle, and learned behaviour. My wing mirrors are attacked by chaffinches in Spring but not my wife's. I fold them in or cover them until the birds get out of the habit.

And, I'll have a spider web on the mirror sometimes the day after the car is washed. They are persistent little beggars.

The OP already said that they're pecking the centre of the mirror. No spiders in the centre of the mirror. It's the reflection.

Most likely reflection but ' the mirror ' part doesn't exclude spiders - on mine anyway ;)
