Olive near end of pipe

    Hi All,

Is there any issue with an olive being right at the end of a pipe at a compression joint? I've to re-fit some radiators and due to a few factors the olives will need to sit at the end of the pipe. The pipes are in good condition and not out of shape etc..

I'd rather the pipe goes all the way into the fitting. It's sturdier. A few times I find myself in the sit you are now & I've never had anything issue with leaking. I just don't think it's as strong if I it'll gets a knock

Same here, don't like it, no room for error really. If there was more room from the wall i would cut back the pipe and solder on a new piece. I'm contemplating cutting a solder ring fitting in 1/2 as i'd just about have enough room for it and solder both ends of the pipe into it.

The olive has a tendency to slip off the end of the pipe when its being compressed if near the very end of it. The olive was right at the end of the pipe so I ran a little solder up around it, then clamped the unit down pushing it into the rad valve. Seems very solid.
