Non boiler stoves

Has anybody got some good advice for getting a non boiler insert stove. Have contacted a few suppliers and its amazing how the advice they offer varies.

    1) Can an insert stove be fitted with a timber surround fireplace? Some say fireplace must be replaced. Others say it is fine as long as it is only 5kw or less output. Another supplier said that the hota 5 stove can be used with timber surround.

    2) The necessity to get flexi liner fitted? Some say it is a must for efficiency and safety. Others say it is only necessary if you get the chimney tested by a chimney sweep and they confirm the chimney is unfit.

    3) The necessity for a wall vent? Some are saying its not required for 5kw or less output stove. Others say it is an absolute definite requirement. Others saying it is only required if house is less than 20 years old.

Would really like to hear from anybody who has got a stove installed and what you would recommend. I thought it would be simply a case of picking stove and that would be it but seems to be a headache in trying to establish who is giving the correct advice.

Also if you can recommend any reliable supplier/fitter can you PM it to me please. Dublin area.

A- Ignore opinions. Fact is all that matters. Only use an insert stove with a timber surround if you can get proof of that stoves distance to combustibles. There is one model which claims to be suitable but I have yet to see the certified proof. Be smart, change the surround to marble.

A- If the flue is in good condition then there is no requirement to get a Flexi fitted. However I would always strongly advise it for both safety and stove efficiency.

    3) The necessity for a wall vent? Some are saying its not required for 5kw or less output stove. Others say it is an absolute definite requirement. Others saying it is only required if house is less than 20 years old.
A- 100% required. KW of stove or age of house is irrelevant.
