I looking to get rid of a 02 punto not been drive In a few years. Do scrapyards give you money to recycle your old car?

    You have a few options

Sell car as is on adverts/donedeal etc - someone may want it for parts.
Sell to a breaker - you might get something or nothing for it.
Sell it to a scrapper for metal - you might get 100 or so.
Recycle car at council - it's free but you don't get money.

See this map for local breakers

If you sell to breaker/scrapper or recycle, make sure you get an "end of life" certificate

Or they sign the VRC into their name so you can send it away to Shannon.

A few cars I sold for scrap magically reappeared on the roads again.

You obviously missed the bit were you get the Vehicle End of Life certificate. If it's an accredited scrap yard it can't come back on the road, if it's not accredited you will be responsible for it.

Car is probably worth €40/€50 tops scrap value at today's rates. If you are scrapping it makes sure to get a Certificate of Destruction from the scrap dealer otherwise it will still be recording as registered to you by Shannon.
