Do Go Safe vans 'red flash' every car that passes?

    Hi,

As I was driving out of Ballincollig towards Cork around 10:30 last night I passed a Go Safe van parked up. As I passed it there was a sort of faint red light/flash. I was under the speed limit, so I was just curious does the infrared system capture each vehicle/licence plate? Is that done for record keeping purposes, or just an automated feature which records the plate of every car that passes?

    Cheers

Cheers. Yeah, fairly certain that's what I saw.

So does the flash go off for every car? I sort of always assumed the system worked on the basis of a vehicle setting being registered as being above the limit, which triggered a picture being taken of the plate? Is it the case that they automatically take pics of everything within the range of the van?

    They check for speed.
Manned checkpoints on roads stop you and check your discs.
