I have an LLB (hons), why do law degree holders have to sit the FE1's?

As far as I know, there was a case in the mid 90's - Bloomer v Law Society of Ireland, which led to this.

Basically, you were exempt from the FE1's with an Irish Law degree from certain colleges back then, and anyone else who wanted to get in had to sit the FE1's. The above case was taken because Northern Ireland graduates were up in a heap over their degrees being vastly similar to Irish law degrees but they had to sit the FE1's, they said it was discriminatory. After that, they decided everyone had to sit them.

Just google the above case and you'll get snippets of more info.

Might be a few more on here that know more about it than me.
