    Hi all,

Never had a powered shower before and installer told me be on notice to acquire a pump.
Advised me to get a brass ended one. I've done my looking around and have them figured out (i.e. I need a twin unit, brass ended positive 2.5 - 3 bar)

Is there much difference in performance between the main providers i.e. ST and Salamander?
I am looking on screwfix so this is where I'm seeing the main two

I suppose I am looking for someone in the know to tell me they are all the one or stay away from x

    Thanks

You need to be careful what you buy from Screwfix. It's a UK company & they ship from the UK so anything you buy from the UK that has an Irish agent won't have a warranty. Triton & Aqualisa showers have no warranty if bought from Screwfix but Mira does. Salamander pumps definitely wont have a warranty as they have the same agent as Aqualisa. I don't know about Stuart Turner.

Brass body is a must as far as I'm concerned. They are a better quality, last longer & are quieter. ST comes with a 5 years warranty as does the Salamander.

Wow thanks Sleeper, that is an interesting little fact to know.
So because Screwfix sell the unit on, to the ROI market, there is no warranty on the product?
If it goes wrong after say 6 months, then I am alone on it?

What is an agent in the context of buying from them?

Earthridge are the agents for Triton in Ireland. They import the Triton shower from the UK as official agents and the warranty is with them for the ROI.

Mt Agencies are the agents for Aqualisa and salamander in Ireland. If one breaks they'll repair it under warranty. They are the official importers. If you get one from the UK then MT have not made any money on it so you they'd won't repair it for free. Your contract will be with Screwfix and you will have to post any pump back to them for repair. This is covered by the sale of goods act but you do not get a warranty as such

It's something that worthy think about. 5 years warranty is a good warranty. You'd want to be saving a lot for it to be worth not having a warranty
