You wont get an omega for €250.
    Those are fakes or frankenwatches.

as stated, an Omega under €250 is not an Omega.

Not necessarily. But outside of a rare bargain at a car boot sale or wherever it will be too small for modern tastes/quartz(digital)/woman's watch/fake[delete as applicable]. Like the ones in the links.
1.I was also wondering if i'm right in saying that going quartz will be also cheaper down the line as i don't have to get it serviced as much as an automatic?
    Pretty much yes.
2.If something were to break it would be around the normal price of a quartz to repair?
Depends. If it has a common movement as many have then it's cheap as chips to replace the whole movement.
3.Could it be repaired in any watch shop?
    Generally yes. See 2

Thanks again, just wondering what would be the lowest price you could expect to get an omega for? Also would the watches on the forum i linked on the Omega forums be fake or frankenwatches?
    Thanks.

Let's make it simple; what is your budget to spend on an Omega watch? Once you know what you have to spend, people here can give you some links to websites that sell pre-owned Omega models - that would be genuine - which is probably your best bet if looking for an entry level Omega.

Given the information i received i am unsure what i would spend.I think i was being too unrealistic in the first place. Was hoping i could get a old quartz one for cheap.Could i get an idea what would be the lowest i could expect to get one for?.I am not in a rush to go and get one and enjoy doing research.Thanks.

I haven't done any recent research, but not less than 1,000 anyway. You might get something in the high hundreds thats broken or damaged.

Thanks for the feedback,i think i will forget about getting an Omega as i was just being too unrealistic and not knowing enough to be able to spot the fakes.Really happy i posted here as i would have made an expensive mistake just going on Ebay.I enjoyed learning more about Omega and buying on Ebay. Thanks everyone.

eBay is a minefield is you don't know what's what, as there are plenty of fakes. Try and save a bit of money if you are thinking about buying a pre-owned Omega, and look on the Chrono24 website to get some idea of what's out there, the Watchfinder site has some older Omega's for around a grand too...

I bought an Omega couple years ago, it was a birth-year watch

    Coast me about 350 ish

Wore it for a while, left it for a while, then decided to sell it on, was a bit too small

them all those in the know told me that the dial and case were not correct for that year, even though the vendor say all was ok

the internals were correct, so am now trying to source a correct dial an case..

Ebay is good but dodgy, beware

Have a look at steinharts, they could interest you and you sometimes get them in your price range.

I saw Chrono24 being mentioned when i was reading some old posts here and was looking there also and saw many of the fake watches i linked there also so i will have to be very careful.

That's a pity about the dial and the case not correct as i would love to be able to get one for around that price.Best of look with sourcing the dial and case.

Thanks,i will definitely have a look.

Thanks all for the advice, think i will continue to try and get one under €500 as i have seen people getting them, and i am in no rush and enjoy the challenge.I am going to spend time researching the different models and learning how to spot fakes or incorrect parts and find out what are the legit sellers on Ebay and Chrono24 so i will be able to do it myself and not having to post every single watch i find on here.I have always looked into getting one for for the usual prices but if i do get one i would wear it as my only watch and i think if i spent that much i would be terrified that something would happen to it.Also i heard about these sites just wondering has anybody any experience with them? Thanks everyone.

    Depends on what you want.

I bought a vintage Seamaster automatic date (1960s) about 10 years ago for €350 and paid another €150 for service/overhaul. It’s an absolute beauty but it’ does not look like what most people would associate with Seamaster.

A recent(ish) Seamaster quartz pre owned that I’d trust to be genuine starts at about €1300 from Japan. Automatic probably €500 more. Me personally I wouldn’t consider a quartz. If you go that far you might as well get the real thing.

You get a new Seamaster auto midsize w date for about €2500. My dream watch but it’s a lot of money spent on just personal gratification.

I got my 2011 Seamaster Automatic second hand (with a scratch on the bezel visible a meter away) for a 3 figure sum. Took me a long time searching and a good bit of luck to find one at that price though, but it isn't impossible. And that was searching here on adverts.ie only. My watch on eBay would fetch at least several hundred more all day long (well outside of my budget), so forget about looking there if you want a real bargain.
