Anyone know somewhere still stocking the as2? Not keen on the as3 due to the crappy rim protector :( all the usual suspects seem to have no stock left

It's a few months now since i got mine, but try Phoenix Tyres on Jones' Road beside Croke Park.

I got mine from tyre leader. Like you i bought 3's was so disappointed with the rim protector or lack there of. So went with 2's for the rear when it came time to order.

Tried tyreleader, camskill, oponeo etc and they only have runflat as2's left :( I may have to give in and go for 3's

Go for some PS variety then? that's what i was going to do if the 2's disappearred . Not sure what the rim protection on the newer ones are like but a quick google should help.

Might do but I like the f1's, was very happy with my last few sets just not sure why they changed the design! First world problems I guess

I used to use those on my old ST but found the sidewalls on them abit on the soft side. Using ps4's now and find them much much better.

Just to update, they have changed the as3 design to now include a proper rim protector. I cant tell them apart from my as2 :)

That's great, i had AS2 and recently bought AS3 and was disappointed with the rim protection too. Did you get them online or from a local supplier?

Ah nice. Had the same lump in my old S3 great engine. I thought Ibiza as the wheels looked smaller with no car in the pic for context.

Yea once you keep on top of the vacuum hoses then they are brilliant. Bought this one with very little miles and have done about 30-40k miles in it now and still under the magical 100k :)

The oil ring design was very poor in the next gen like your s3 which is a shame but I am currently testing a reworked aftermarket solution which so far has oil consumption down to almost nothing on a cdaa block so I may be swayed by a newer s3 eventually :)

Both my old S3 and current one use a little oil between changes but it's an acceptable amount.

Another big thing on those 1.8Ts is changing the curl pump before they go bad as it causes serious issues.

I upgraded the TIP to a forge one which makes a big difference.

    Probably stuff you know already.
