Hardened Caustic Soda

    Hi all,

I have a problem you might be able to help with.

I had to resort to caustic soda some time ago to clear a blockage (not my first choice, but there was nothing else strong enough in the shops nearby).

As I didn't have a bucket, I had to use a roasting pan and a similar utensil to mix the solution, but the residue crystallised and there is still a substantial hardened residue in both utensils and in the cupboard (no food) where I left them.

Does anyone know what the best and safest way is to clean it all up? Should I somehow try to dispose of the hardened caustic soda as is or should I try to dissolve it and wash it down the drain?

If anyone has any tips it would be appreciated. :)
