attic insulation

    Hi guys,

Just moved into a house, about 8 years old. Currently there is 7 inches of fibreglass insulation between the joists in the attic. I appreciate that this is not the optimal standard anymore, however, The central space of the attic is plywooded out on top of the joists. I am wondering if it's worth adding extra layers of insulation to the edges that don't have the ply covering? I don't feel it's worth taking up the ply to do the whole lot, as I may convert at some stage. Also, much of the houses wiring runs along the joists on top of this first layer of insulation and is fixed to joists at various intervals. Is it OK to lay insulation on top of this? I also have a double water tank in the attic which in not insulated and doesn't have a lid. What's the best solution for protectin these? Thanks in advance
