Rockbreaker / Post Driver Opinions ?

Have some concrete breaking to do over the next few weeks and have a fair few posts to drive around the farm next year.

Was toying with the idea of this combined chisel / post driver as a handy solution since we already have a 3 tonne mini-digger.

What do people think? Not as easy for lots of posts as a tractor driver alright, but still handy for tight spots. How big a post would the smaller one (the 2-3 tonne one) drive? Would it drive into limestoney shaley West Cork Ground?

    Has anyone used one similar?

was thinking something similar here too, have a good few posts to knock in and with mini digger sitting idle might be an option

Thinking of a rock breaker for digger here also. But max I’ll spend is 1k.

I'd question the lasting in those as breakers. I've seen breakers that cost 70k melt within weeks of purchase

How hard is a rock breaker on a mini digger (2.7t)

Have concrete to take up around the house from last owner.

Local place charging e200 a day for digger and breaker. Probably have 3 bits of bays around House and 2 down the yard. So hence the budget of max e1000

Have a breaker on my 3.4 ton terex. It's a great price of kit for breaking concrete, but it's hard work trying to break rock.

Get a lad in for a few hours that's set up with a decent machine

How long is a length of string, it's impossible question to answer unless you know how the concrete was poured.

I've broken paths around mine and one path is never the same as the next. Depending on who when and what they used to pour it.

Some rented breakers are useless depending on what your breaking. Some are ideal.

At 200/ day you are would be better off paying a machine and driver. I imagine that the hired digger breaker is sub 4 ton. Have not had a machine for awhile but I imagine you get a backhoe with breaker for sub 35/ hour and a 8 ton machine for a bit with 40/ hour. Both of these include a driver. Never see the benefit of self drives.

    Define a " decent machine"

My price was self drive for 3t mini digger and rock breaker incl vat, diesel and cost to me to collect it 10 mile away (2 round trips)

Cant get a backhoe in. its a small yard the last owners put between a 130 year old house and 80 year old shed.

so yes an EX200 would be ideal and sort it in a few hours but not practical at all.

the plan is to take it out in sections on a Friday evening/Saturday morning. then put in the new concrete on a Saturday evening/sunday
