Hi I am selling my elderly dad's car for him in Dublin. Has nct and tax to Apr 18. I live Belfast and it's too much hassle for my dad selling online so I was looking at merlin car auction in naas. Anyone have any advice about selling via auction? Do you get a lot less than they are worth? Ta

    What make and model?
Is it clean and low mileage?
Could you get a friend or neighbour, maybe someone with time on their hands to field the calls and handle the sale?

Thanks. My dad wants it sold but wouldnt want to ask anyone to do that - was really just interested in seller's experience of car auctions as I think that's the road he is going down.

If he is certain about it and accepts he may get a lower price then just give it a good clean and enter it.
    It's fairly painless really.

Painless that's good to hear. Was worried about him being taken to the cleaners. Cheers will give it a go.

Just so you know, you'll generally get the lowest price available selling at auction. If it's worth very little then this is academic.

Yea that's the kind of thing I was thinking. I guess you're paying for getting rid of the hassle of selling privately.
