    Hey

    I want to put alloys on my car.can I use the existing wheel nuts from the steel wheels?

    Generally no, but there are many different types of nuts for different steel wheels and alloys, you need to be very careful to get the correct ones

    It depends on the car and type of wheel, some use flat washers, others use conical tapers, others use ball and socket arrangements

    A wheel nut with a tapered end I assume?
    What type of alloys did you put on?..Genuine ones or aftermarket alloys

    My son bought aftermarket alloys last month for a mondeo and the ford alloy wheel nuts only thread onto stud 5 threads (5 turns). This seems to be a common problem and one I never noticed until I seen a post on here yesterday from a similar lad that bought aftermarket alloys for a focus. Now I'm thinking that my sons Car may not be roadworthy.

    The Ford garage fitted the wheels so I don't really know. Sold the car shortly after
