There's an odd notice published today on the buseireann.ie website about services operating normally today (29th October). Is there a reason behind such a post today?

I was waiting for a bus earlier which hadn't shown up by the time I got a lift.

Could be because of the marathon on today in Dublin city.

This was on a route which didn't go near Dublin FYI. But yeah probably was in relation to the marathon...

It appears that a lot of people expected the Marathon to be held TOMORROW !......and were somewhat surprised to find it was (is) being run today.....Of course a large corporate body involved in Public Transport would never make such a basic mistake.

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

Yeah, but Dublin is not the only place in the Eastern region. It was a fairly sybilline update on their website.

For 36 years until 2015 it was on the Monday so not surprising that people still think it's on the Monday
