    Hi everyone.

I'm looking for your advice on the best hiking boots you would recommend. I'm buying a pair for my husband for Christmas as the ones he had were the dump. He's used them non-stop for four years and we had to throw them out after we came back from the Camino as they eventually gave up. I stupidly did not take down the make before they were binned.

As I know they will get a lot of use, I'm willing to spend a good amount on them. He is a keen walker and mountain hiker so I'm looking for a good all-rounder. Waterproof as well, cause you know... Ireland. Also something not too heavy as we walk abroad in hot weather sometimes too. He also loves his ankle support.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    TIA!

Would get him a gift voucher for the best local outdoors store near you, as he will more than likely have to try a number of boots to find the right one for his feet. In this situation there isn't really a 'best' outright, only a best fit for his foot.

Take a look at Meindl boots http://www.meindl.co.uk/ they would be on the higher end of the scale but as above it's definitely best fit first.

Not a good idea to buy boots for somebody else, imo. Too many variables - size, width, fit, ankle height etc.

The voucher is the best idea.

    Not your ornery onager

Meindl boots are really good but I would agree that you should not buy someone hiking boots.
